Diesel the Pillow Thief

Posted by on Aug 18, 2011 in Blog | 1 comment

I bought a new pillow yesterday at Target. It took me quite some time to find the perfect pillow which turned out to be a plush down alternative and feather mix (its amazing!). I couldn’t wait to try it out but didn’t realize that wasn’t going to be happening. When bed time rolled around I took the pillow out, popped it into a pillow case and threw it on the bed. When I returned from brushing my teeth, there was Diesel, all snuggled up on top of it. Most people would probably just push the dog out of the way but with Diesel, there is no such doing. She’s just too darn cute to be shoved aside. It’s her pillow now and there is just no arguing with that face.

Cuddling on the couch this morning... This was taken by Steve.

Wednesday Night Market

We made it out to the Santa Rosa Wednesday Night Market for the first time tonight. I was totally blown away by how large it was. Full of live music, different booths of food, local shops, and even the city’s environmental department. I found myself in a daze watching all the different people pass buy and all the new foods I needed to try. I’m so disappointed I didn’t know about this sooner! Summer is almost over so I don’t have much time to give every booth a go. My girlfriend’s got Savory Cones(?) which looked incredible. One had pulled pork and the other macaroni. I would like one of each please, thanks.

I didn’t realize what a big deal this market was and didn’t even think to bring my camera.
Major pictures need to happen next Wednesday, no doubt about it…

Taken with my handy Samsung Captivate. Thank goodness for modern day cell phones!

Life’s a Beach

The boyfriend and I managed to sneak away to the beach today. We’ve been wanting to explore Bodega Bay for a few weeks now and we finally made the commitment this morning. The drive was gorgeous, the parking lots were packed and the beaches were filled with interesting people. I really enjoyed the little getaway and seeing the tiny local cities/towns. Hopefully we can make this a more regular thing.

He will not let me take his picture  so this is what I have to settle with…

Of course, I steal a few shots… He usually makes me delete them but I managed to save this one :]

Mustache Monday

Haven’t had a whole lot of time to post lately. Been really swamped with designing for VinylDecals.com and I found myself a freelance job with a local graphic designer. So… all my lovely photos still need to be sorted through and added. I had planned on working on it this weekend but of course got tied up with work even though I told myself I was taking those two days off to do personal stuff. I really should have because I’m starting to get a little burnt out which is why I took a few minutes today do have a little fun :]

We have a few extra mustache decals lying around so I decided one had to find a permanent home. What better place than our new cash register? It’s located just a few feet away from my desk and it makes me smile everytime I look over. He has so much personality now, I might need to name him.

This might need to become a regular thing. I just love the decal mustaches!

You Spin Me Right Round Baby

I’m not sure what compelled me to do it but on Thursday after having lunch with my girlfriends, I stopped in at Play It Again Sports. I’ve been on the hunt for a new spinner to get my butt back in shape and even though I had decided to hold off on the purchase, I went inside to see what they had. They had three bikes that had potential. One looked pretty cheap upon closer inspection so I focused on the two sitting next to it. These had the price tags of $499 and $999; neither of which sounded appealing to me. I’m not sure how it happened but next thing I knew, the owner was ringing me up for the $999 bike for only $500. This sounds amazing right? Wrong.

After getting the bike home I noticed there was no brand name anywhere to be found on it. Strange.. I looked online at all the Schwinn bikes to see if I could find it. Turns out that the bike is actually a Sunny Health and Fitness bike that they sell for only $250. I’m pissed! Yeah, so the bike feels amazing and is ten times quieter than the last cheap bike I bought from them, but I’m not so sure it’s worth an extra 250 bucks. Thankfully, they have a 30 day return policy. I’m going to attempt to get at least 200 bucks back and if they won’t do it, I’m returning it. It’ll be sad to see it go because I really DO like the bike, I just would prefer the cash..

So here she is… All set up in my little workout corner.

New Beginnings: 507, 509

After a few years of moving between San Jose and Santa Babara, my boyfriend Steve and I have officially (and perhaps permanently) settled in the small city of Sebastopol, California. A fairly random city for us to end up in but as it turns out, it’s a pretty fantastic fit. This small artsy/hippy city is filled with interesting people, shops, and homes. After being here for three weeks, we now have most of our boxes unpacked, the animals have found their favorite spots, and the neighbors have already left us a friendly “please don’t do that” sort of note.

Our online business is what brought us here. We sold a few websites for a good chunk of moving cash and our VinylDecals website had picked up considerably, quickly causing us to outgrow our 2 bedroom apartment. After playing with the idea of moving to Oregon, we decided (I demanded) to stay close to family and look in/around San Jose. Not totally convinced we’d actually end up North where I’m originally from, Steve found us an amazing two story mixed use building where we could expand our online business to a fully functioning print and design shop.. Within a matter of two weeks, the fun idea of moving to Sonoma County (where two of my best childhood friends happen to reside) became a reality.

So now here we are, three weeks in and the shop is almost completely set up. Now that we’re just about ready to open up our doors to the public, it’s finally time to start working with the camera again. I went to the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography a few years back and have slowly managed to neglect everything I’ve been taught more and more each day. Transitioning into a world of graphic design and studio art, I’ve forgotten how much I used to love taking photos. It’s time to get that love back and it’s time to share this new chapter with the world..

Meet our kids: Diesel, the most adorable Mini English Bulldog and Juice aka Kitty, the 20lb feisty domestic short hair cat. Both are females, in case you were wondering… Be prepared to see a lot of them, especially Dee. She’s not the biggest fan of the camera but she’s getting used to it. :]
